Monza Gran Prix

F1 MONZA GRAND PRIX: September 01-03, 2023

HISTORY

The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, known also as the Temple of Speed, is a meeting point for motorcycling racing. Built in 1922, it is the world’s third purpose-built motor racing circuit after those of Brooklands and Indianapolis and it has always supported sport and technology innovation. The parabolic curve is unique in his own way and this racing circuit helped develop important scientific research: telepass, guard-rail and the drainable asphalt had been finalising exactly in Monza.

The biggest event hosted by the circuit is the Formula One Italian Gran Prix which, since his creation, has always been hosted by the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza with the exception of 1937 (Livorno), 1947 (Milano), 1948 (Torino) and 1980 (Imola).

THE CIRCUIT

The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is a very technical circuit in which it is necessary having great skills in the rapid application of brakes: in his 5793 meters there are four straight streches where the Formula One cars reach almost 330 km/h. For this reason, fuel suppliers have to find out new products for the race. During the Formula One Gran Prix are tried many products with better aerodynamic parameters specifically for this circuit, unique in his own way

OTHER EVENTS

The Autodromo also hosts many concerts. In 1989 took place the famous concert of Pink Floyd with sixty thousand people. In the 2015 it hosted the Manu Chao concert and the Monza Rock Festival with more than forty thousand people. And still, I-Days and Brianza Rock Festival keep bringing national and international famous band.

During 2016 it will host the concert of 50 cent and the only stage in Italy of the new tour of Luciano Ligabue.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

In the Monza circuit there is a research and development department which develop public utility products and services. The circuit has always been used to develop and test special asphalts, disk brakes, run flat rubber and sustainable fuel such as gas, methane and bioethanol. As said before, this department also create the guard-rail and the telepass.
